Marina Coleman’s HIV & AIDS Sells by the Thousand
Marina Coleman’s acclaimed new book on HIV and AIDS has nearly sold out its entire first print run in just 10 days.
A Johannesburg businesswoman and social activist, Coleman unveiled her completely illustrated resource, simply titled HIV & AIDS, to business leaders, NGOs and media at an art gallery recently and thousands of copies were snapped up.
The book is a comprehensive guide to HIV & AIDS and features the illustrated work of newspaper satirist Sifiso Yalo. Its no-holds-barred content and saucy illustrations accompanying fresh perspectives on HIV & AIDS has made the book a hit with companies buying both for employees and local community schools.
Author Marina Coleman has been on a punishing schedule of media appearances, presentations to NGOs and companies, and even taking in a National AIDS conference to promote the book. “I’m excited that this book is not only in stores, but that schools are asking about it, as are community centres and ordinary folk looking for simple, easy-to-follow information on a technical and often politicised subject.”
With its initial print run of nearly 10 000 copies almost sold out, the book is about to go into its second print run, and Coleman has already started working on a set of support materials that can be used with the book either in schools or staff training modules.
